Everybody gets to enjoy magic the way they choose. If that brings them pleasure, I am certainly all for it. This being said, I realize that there are those that derive pleasure from picking out a difficult sleight and just working on that diligently and repetitively.
Then you can move to the next trick or routine and so on. At the same time it will keep your interest up and you will be polishing the sleight/move necessary for the trick within the context of learning a trick with which you can genuinely entertain people. In this manner, you will have something really tangible to show for your work and which you can perform, as opposed to just a move(s). Just focus on getting that trick down nice and clean and smooth and don't jump around. If so, I would recommend selecting an effect from the book that appeals to you which does not involve complicated handling and multiple difficult sleights. I am assuming that your goal is to be able to successfully entertain others with your card magic. In my personal view, sleights and moves are like tools in a tool box. Others may disagree with me, but since you asked, I will give my two cents.
It's honestly very discouraging! Should I start in the tricks section and learn the sleight I need for them? Or should I try to work all the way through? Please give me advice! Hey guys, I've been working with cards for about 9 months now, and I decided to buy Card Control, this book has so much information I have no idea were to start, I try to start at the beginning, but I can't even understand the first move! Whenever I try to sit down and learn something specific, I always get frustrated after about 10 seconds.
